Welcome

A warm welcome to the Master’s Programme in Mathematical Finance at the University of Konstanz.

This unique, interdisciplinary Master’s programme, only offered at the University of Konstanz, is a joint initiative of the Department of Mathematics and Statistics and the Department of Economics.

Our objective is to qualify students for challenging careers, particularly in the financial sector, e.g. in banks, insurance companies, consulting firms and in the finance departments of industrial concerns. The programme will also suit students who are aspiring for an academic career at a university or a research institute.

In the Master’s programme, you learn to analyse and solve financial problems by means of mathematical methods. Such tasks concern, for instance, the correct evaluation of financial assets, the analysis of financial markets - particularly in times of crisis, the incentives of managers and the resulting decisions in firms. For this purpose, all students are given methodological training in the relevant areas of mathematics, as well as theoretical and applied training in finance. Optional courses, interdisciplinary seminars and the Master’s thesis allow for individual specialization. All students have the opportunity to complement their studies with an internship or a stay abroad at one of our partner universities in Asia, Europe or North America.

The Master’s programme builds upon our Bachelor’s Programme in Mathematical Finance. However, it is accessible for highly motivated Bachelor graduates of related disciplines, e.g. economics, mathematics or the natural sciences.

At the University of Konstanz you will benefit from a degree course in line with the highest international standards. The departments that contribute to the programme enjoy an excellent reputation in teaching and research. Since October 2007, the University of Konstanz has the status of an elite university.

The town of Constance, with its unique location on the banks of Lake Constance and the River Rhine and its proximity to the Alps, Austria, Switzerland and France, offers an ideal location for combining study and leisure.

On our website you will find all you need to know about our Master’s Programme in Mathematical Finance. If our programme appeals to you, do not hesitate to apply. Our application deadline for admission in October is 15th April.

We look forward to welcoming you to the University of Konstanz.
