Areas of Interest

Manuel’s research is located in the area of adaptive and hybrid data stores for HTAP (Hybrid Transactional/Analytical Processing) workloads. His research interests include hybrid storage layouts, traditional and vectorized execution, self-adapting storage engines, and new advances in storage hardware.

Background

Manuel studied Information and Computer Science at the University of Konstanz. In 2014, he received a Bachelor's Degree in Information Engineering with a specialization in visual analytics. He acquired a Master's Degree in Computer and Information Science in 2016. In his Master's Thesis, Manuel designed and developed a hybrid storage layer to unify row- and column-oriented table layouts. He joined the Database and Information Systems group as a PhD student in 2016.
